Hidden Creek Pottery, located at 41 E. Front St. on the Square in Milan, Ohio is on the Northeast side of the square on the edge of the Old Milan Canal basin. Operating in what was once an old tannery, Hidden Creek Pottery offers handmade unique jewelry, fine art from Firelands area artists and original, wheel- thrown, functional pottery. Wheel-thrown and hand built pottery is made with glazes that are lead-free and formulated for use on food containers.
Milan was an important inland port and shipbuilding center. The Milan Canal connected to the Huron River and Lake Erie. Farmers came from as far as 150 miles away to ship grain from Milan. Thomas A. Edison was born here in 1847.
The Firelands is an area in the Western Reserve of Ohio that was given to inhabitants of Connecticut as compensation for their losses when Connecticut was burned by the British Tories under Governor Tryon in 1779.
